The beginning of the end? – by Solange Sheriff

Helping people fascinates me and I’m so grateful to ICS for giving me the opportunity to be part of the last cohort and to do what I do best and what I enjoy the most.
In the beginning, I found myself totally out of my comfort zone (as was supposed to be), but the dynamic of the team and natural support amongst colleagues and team leaders was invaluable and made me feel part of something big.
I’m glad to be surrounded by people with common interests. Every day I spend with them, I feel that our friendship is growing and It’s always fun to work with such an incredible team (:
I have mixed feelings when I think about the future and the program coming to an end in a few months… but then I realize we have many things to do!! This journey has just begun for us and we have challenges to overcome and gain new experiences, before saying goodbye.
There are a number of reasons why I decided to become a volunteer… I’ve always thought, that helping out even with a few tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people in need.
Right now, we have ambitious ideas! And perhaps results won´t be noticeable at first, but we believe they’ll contribute to an overall improvement in the long term, and that’s our goal
